Let me tell you something to illustrate my point. I was talking with a potential client / employer and he said, "We only do what we are contracted to do. We don't want programmers to create the perfect solutions for our customers. They don't pay us to do that extra work and we can't have programmers that don't play by the rules." I responded, "I can appreciate that. But, I tend to be the type that does what you are talking about. I tend to want to create computer programs that genuinely solve the customers' problems."
